AI Horizons: Art Beyond Algorithms.
PARMA 360 Festival launches AI Horizons – Art Beyond Algorithms, an international open call developed in collaboration with Parma European Youth Capital 2027, inviting emerging artists to explore the relationship between artificial intelligence, contemporary art and human creativity.
Open to artists under 35 worldwide, the initiative will select 20 finalists for a collective exhibition in Parma, Italy, in spring 2027, as part of the 11th edition of PARMA 360 Festival and the European Youth Capital 2027 programme.
The selected artists will also be presented in a dedicated AI Horizons editorial feature in PROMPT Magazine Issue 19.

Exhibition in Italy
Twenty finalists will participate in a collective exhibition curated by Chiara Canali in spring 2027, as part of the 11th edition of PARMA 360 Festival and the Parma European Youth Capital 2027 programme.
Artist Residency & Special Opportunities
The Piazza of Beauty Award will offer a selected young European artist the opportunity to participate in an artist residency in Parma. Additional special awards will provide exhibition opportunities through Rome New Media Week 2027 and Giovanarte 2027.

Three Themes
The open call invites artists to explore three key themes through AI, digital media and experimental artistic practices.
01 — PARMA HERITAGE
Reimagining the cultural identity of Parma through artificial intelligence, from historical archives and architecture to local traditions, craftsmanship and collective memory.
02 — CARE
Exploring the human and ethical dimensions of technological innovation, including well-being, accessibility, inclusion, community and the relationship between people and AI.
03 — DATA SUSTAINABILITY AND ECOLOGY
Questioning the environmental, social and ethical impact of artificial intelligence, from energy consumption and digital infrastructures to the hidden material costs of data.

How to Apply
The open call welcomes artists under 35 from Italy and abroad working with AI, digital imagery, video, interactive installations, software art, immersive technologies and hybrid practices.
Including AI-generated images, digital photography, video art, digital sculpture, interactive installations, software art, sound art, VR/AR, performance and hybrid works. Artists are encouraged to explore AI and emerging technologies through original, experimental and critical approaches.
