Arte Laguna Prize is an international contemporary art competition that will showcase numerous emerging artists from around the world in Venice (November 6-29). More than 200 works will be exhibited in the Arsenale Nord, covering 10 artistic categories: Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Virtual Art, Graphic Illustration, Design, Land Art, Urban Art, Performance, and Video Art.

The deadline for the 21st Arte Laguna Prize Open Call is June 30, 2026, and brings with it numerous opportunities and additional prizes just waiting for applications from artists who wish to challenge themselves.With the international exhibition of finalists in Venice, Arte Laguna Prize confirms its role as a catalyst capable of shining a spotlight on the best emerging artists from whom the Italian and international art system draws for future exhibitions.

HOW TO APPLY?

Each artist wishing to register for the Arte Laguna Prize must create a reserved area on the official portal (artelaguna.world) and upload five works of their choice, which will be submitted to the jury. Each artist registered for the competition can also register for free for the Special Prizes, which are collaborations with international partners in the art world.

JURY

The jury of the 21st edition is responsible for selecting the finalist artists who will be exhibited in Venice. It is composed by Sarah Crowe (Austria) Assistant Curator at Kunsthalle Wien, Writer and Art Researcher, Yuko Hasegawa (Japan) Independent Curator, Art Historian and Director of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa, Jemima Kulumba (Belgium) Co-founder of Biennale of Women in Art (WIA), Independent Curator and Art Consultant, Wang Chunchen (China) Professor and chief curator at CAFA Art Museum, Beijing, Hèlio Menezes (Brazil) Independent curator, Gianluigi Ricuperati (Italy) Independent Curator, Art director and writer and Linzi Stauvers (UK) Artistic Director at Ikon Gallery.

ALL THE PRIZES

The competition offers numerous opportunities for participating artists, starting with the Institutional Prizes, which include a three-week exhibition at the Arsenale Nord in Venice (November 6-29, 2020) and €10,000 for the Overall Winner, announced and awarded on the opening day (November 6, 2026).

In addition to institutional prizes, Arte Laguna Prize collaborates annually with numerous partners from around the world to create Special Prizes. Each partner will choose one winner independently of the jury's selection. These prizes are divided into:

Other Special Prizes

Business for Art
€2,000 cash prize from Gabe Tenute, a partner requesting a site-specific work to be placed in the UNESCO Prosecco hills.

Festival & Exhibitions
A three-week exhibition at the Galata – Museo del Mare in Genoa, for artists presenting works related to the theme of marine “Routes,” interpreting the theme of the sea as they wish.

 

Sustainability & Solidarity
Sustainability is also a key theme, thanks to a prize created in collaboration with the Universidad Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru, which offers one month of accommodation and study to anyone who submits a work that interprets this important current theme.

 

Among the prizes is Gallery Studio 76, in Bucharest, Romania, which will select one artist from among the others to exhibit in its spaces.

As demonstrated over the years, the Arte Laguna Prize remains open to all artistic genres and techniques, allowing emerging artists from around the world maximum freedom of expression. Special attention has always been given to the digital world, opening its doors to video, virtual art, works created with the aid of AI, and much more.
